October marks the beginning of breast cancer awareness month and doing its bit to support the cause is Qatar Airways. In addition to special, pink-themed menus, passengers traveling with the airlines (and at its Doha lounges) are in for a special treat!
They will be offered unique, pink, limited-edition amenity kits made by Italian brand BRIC’S. Made from vegan leather, the limited-edition versions will come in two designs – a pink and white kit for female passengers and a black kit for male passengers.
Both the kits also feature a small pink breast cancer ribbon-shaped zipper handle and contain products from Italy’s Castello Monte Vibiano Vecchio, including lip balm, hydrating facial mist, and anti-aging moisturizer in special limited edition ‘pink’ branding.
While the novel pink kits will be offered to premium class passengers, economy class passengers don’t return home empty-handed either! They will be given a simpler amenity kit (also in pink), although the offer is services will be limited only to select long-haul and ultra-long-haul flights.
In addition to the amenity kits, passengers will be treated to pink foods ranging from a refreshing pink mocktail, a special ‘Think Pink’ menu featuring a themed afternoon tea, and desserts featuring the breast cancer ribbon made from sugar paste. Economy class travelers will receive an exclusive, pink-themed cheesecake to go with!
On the ground, in Doha (at both the Al Safwa First Lounge and Al Mourjan Business Lounge), guests will be able to relish a signature ‘Pink Berry’ mocktail, a ruby hot chocolate topped with pink marshmallows, and a ‘pink themed’ afternoon tea assortment “that includes delicious finger sandwiches, scones, and pastries.”
Commenting on the experience, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive, Qatar Airways, said, “We are dedicated to raising awareness for breast cancer. This month is a reminder of the challenges that members of our Qatar Airways family have had to face and the importance of the support we provide for those diagnosed and in recovery as we fight together to overcome this disease.”
He further added, “We value the health of our passengers and women worldwide and are proud to demonstrate our commitment by raising awareness of the importance of self-assessment during our annual support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”
